Sawtry Services, A1(M) Junction 15
Sawtry is the newest service area on the A1(M). Is it open, and what will you find there?
Where it is
Sawtry services is at Junction 15 of the A1(M), on the section between Alconbury and Peterborough in Cambridgeshire. Junction 15 is the B1043 for Sawtry and the B660 for Ramsey. Northbound the services are signed at the junction; southbound the A1(M) junction table lists them as unsigned, so look for the Sawtry exit.
Who runs it
Sawtry is a Moto site. Moto’s chief executive, Ken McMeikan, cut the ribbon when it opened in April 2025. The site cost £17 million and created 120 jobs, according to local press reports of the opening.
What is there
- A BP filling station.
- Burger King, Costa Coffee, Greggs, M&S, Pret and WHSmith.
- Gridserve ultra-rapid electric vehicle chargers, with room for six cars.
- A lorry park behind the main car park, and a car park for 200 vehicles.
Traffic around Junction 15
The Department for Transport counts the whole length from Junction 14 to Junction 16 as one stretch, so Sawtry has no separate figure. That stretch carried 75,975 vehicles a day in 2025, of which 10,307 were lorries — 13.6%, more than twice the share on the Hertfordshire A1(M).
