Where can you stop on the A1(M)? This page lists the ten service areas with pages on this site, in order from the M25, with the junction and the operator.

Planning a stop
Nine of the ten are reached from a junction, so one site serves both directions: you leave the motorway, stop, and rejoin. Washington is the exception — it sits between Junctions 64 and 65 and serves both sides of the road.
Each motorway section ends with a service area: Baldock at the end of the Hertfordshire section, Peterborough at the end of the Alconbury section, and Blyth at the southern start of the Doncaster Bypass. Between the sections you are on the ordinary A1; see the A1 route guide. Moto also lists Grantham North on the A1.
The newest and the oldest
Sawtry is the newest, opened by Moto in April 2025. Scotch Corner’s Moto service station opened in 1980 and Ferrybridge in 1985, while South Mimms, opened in 1987, was the first service area reached directly from the M25.
Other sites on the northern A1(M)
Moto’s list of its sites also includes Leeming Bar at Junction 51 and Barton Park at Junction 56. They are not in the junction table we use, so we have not given them pages yet.
Slip-road closures
Because most A1(M) services are reached from a junction, a closed slip road can make a stop harder to reach. The roadworks and closures tonight pages list slip-road closures as National Highways reports them.
Each service area in detail
Every page below gives the junction, the operator, what we could confirm about facilities, the traffic count on the road outside and the next stop in each direction. Where we could not confirm a facility from a reliable source, we have left it out rather than guess.
