A1(M) Maps and Junctions

The A1(M) comes in four separate motorway sections of the A1, so we split it into six pages. Each has the junctions, the towns they serve, the latest reports for that part of the road and the Department for Transport traffic count.

The six section pages

• Junctions 1 to 10: Hertfordshire — South Mimms and the M25 to Stotfold, through the Hatfield Tunnel.
• Junctions 14 to 17: Peterborough — Alconbury to Peterborough, the section opened in 1998.
• Junctions 34 to 38: the Doncaster Bypass — Blyth to Skellow, opened in 1961, with the M18.
• Junctions 40 to 46: Ferrybridge to Wetherby — the M62, the M1 merge and the A64.
• Junctions 47 to 56: Harrogate to Scotch Corner — North Yorkshire, Catterick and the A66.
• Junctions 57 to 65: Darlington to Washington — County Durham and the end of the motorway at Birtley.

Where the A1(M) is not motorway

Between the sections the road is the ordinary A1, not the A1(M). That is the case from Junction 10 at Baldock to Junction 14 at Alconbury, from Junction 17 at Peterborough to Junction 34 at Blyth, and from Junction 38 at Skellow to Junction 40 at Darrington. That is why the junction numbers jump. Reports on those stretches are on A1 traffic news, and the A1 route guide explains which parts are which.
